Every year the brewers of the English brewery Fuller’s produce countless beers. They brew IPAs, porters, ales and all sorts of other styles and they’re pretty busy with it. Nevertheless, the team takes the time to develop a very special example year after year: Fuller’s Vintage Ale is a strictly limited series that only releases one beer each year. The recipes are always new and all the beers in the range are matured with a lot of time and dedication to become true gems.
For their 2019 Vintage Ale, the brewers drew inspiration from another part of the world. Inspired by the intense aromas of New Zealand hops, the team has come up with an Old Ale that balances tangy citrus with creamy honey and toasted bread. There is also a bit of home in it: the traditional yeast from Fuller’s delivers typical English notes of orange marmalade, which harmonize wonderfully with the flavor nuances of New Zealand.
Fuller’s 2019 Vintage Ale flows into the glass in shimmering coppery gold and is adorned with a fleeting veil of lightly toned foam. The warm and spicy scent of freshly baked fruit bread makes you want to take the first sip. The taste follows on foot and scores with raisins, candied fruits, orange peel, blossom honey, caramel and freshly baked bread.
