With their alcohol-free brown ale, the brewers at Samuel Smith not only address the needs of people who give up alcohol, whether they choose to do so or not, but also the limitations of those who do not consume animal products. Sam’s Brown Ale meets the requirements of the British Vegan Society and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. However, everyone else likes it too, of that we are sure.
With an alcohol content of less than 0.5%, the beer is one of the lightweights, but its strong, malty character skilfully compensates for the lack of rotation. The enjoyment begins as soon as you pour it into the glass: the brown beer flows into the glass in a copper-red shimmering mahogany tone and is crowned with a magnificent crown of fine, dense, hazelnut-brown foam. A poem of brown sugar and gently roasted malt rises from the wonderful cream. The attack follows this fabulous first impression and ensnares the palate with a rich malt depth that tastes of oven-fresh rye bread, candied plums, toffee and melt-in-the-mouth chocolate. An elegant bitterness completes the overall picture.
The brewers recommend dishes with a kick for their alcohol-free brown ale: the soft sweetness harmonises wonderfully with all dishes that have been seasoned with chili or fiery pepper.
