The Black Scottish Stout from the Belhaven Brewery is characterized by its deep black color and the wide variety of wonderful roasted notes. The strong beer specialty from the Scottish Dunbar is made with a single type of hops and four different types of malt. Accordingly, the malt notes are dominant and present their full range of taste nuances.
The Black Scottish Stout flows into the glass in the darkest shade of mahogany and is adorned with a small crown of creamy, slightly tinted foam. From an olfactory point of view, the dark beer delights with a symphony of cocoa, dark chocolate, freshly brewed espresso, roasted malt and caramel. You can’t help but quickly take your first sip. This reveals a creamy beer with a medium body. Full-bodied notes of roasted coffee beans, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, toffee and cocoa caress the palate. The hops remain discreetly in the background and only contribute a clean, dry bitterness. This complements the heavy sweetness and the strong roasted aromas wonderfully and is not dominant at any time. The finish is dry and tastes wonderfully malty.
The Black Scottish Stout from Belhaven is a finely composed masterpiece with a great palette of strong malt notes.
