In order to give their customers the opportunity to drive, to work, to win a chess duel or to play sports after enjoying their beer, the two vandeStreek brothers have come up with a fine, non-alcoholic India Pale Ale. However, because they didn’t want to forego any taste, they packed their creation to the brim with hops: An extremely generous portion of American aroma hops such as Mosaic, Citra and Cascade give the beer its tropical character and complementary bitterness.
Ronald and Sander’s alcohol-free taste bomb is less than 0.5% alcohol, but is still not a lightweight. The golden beer specialty flows into the glass in glowing amber and crowns the naturally cloudy body with a considerable amount of white foam. In the nose, tangy citrus notes meet an abundance of tropical fruits, some floral hops and a hint of oven-fresh bread. The initial taste is grippy and impresses with a creamy mouthfeel and grandiose hop notes. The malt provides fine notes of bread crust and sun-ripened grain, but the hops are the main protagonist: Fresh citrus notes caress the palate with the aromas of mandarin, orange, lime and grapefruit, gradually being joined by tropical hints of mango and passion fruit. A touch of pine resin, playful notes of green hop umbels and a crunchy bitterness round off the taste experience.
It’s hard to believe that this skillful IPA is alcohol-free!
