With its non-alcoholic IPA Playground, the VandeStreek brewery pulled off a real stroke of genius: In a mass of unspecific and uniform non-alcoholic beers, their version stood out like a sore thumb and not only won them the favor of their customers, but also that of several judges. Today, according to the brewery itself, Playground is the non-alcoholic India Pale Ale with the most awards worldwide and an extremely popular brew in the range.
The motivations that led to the creation of this beer were very personal: Sanders and Ronald’s families were growing and there were periods of time when non-alcoholic brews were the first choice. With this need in mind, the brothers began to look for the best raw materials, sophisticated recipes and innovative techniques, taking inspiration from German breweries that had already achieved some milestones in this field. With all this information in hand, they created a brand new recipe that uses a special yeast strain to produce a beer with less than 0.5% alcohol content.
Playground captivates with an olfactory bouquet of freshly grated citrus zest, exotic fruit, floral notes and a hint of bread. The first and all subsequent sips delight with a creamy texture and a play of aromas consisting of bready malt, mandarin, grapefruit, lime, mango and passion fruit. Resinous notes and a green, pointed hop bitterness complete the taste profile.
