While fans of intergalactic adventures and spaceships will certainly prick up their ears at the name of this beer, The Padawan has nothing to do with the legendary space saga. But it still tastes good.
The name of this incredibly fruity pale ale was chosen in 2014 by an independent online jury of avid brewery fans. The previously unnamed beer was named a "pale ale doing alright without a name" through this collective act — the pale ale that does just fine without a name. Because this title is quite unwieldy, it was shortened to the nickname Padawan. The classic has earned its position in Bierol’s core range: no other beer combines juicy fruitiness with such a velvety-soft texture as The Padawan. A generous portion of the Citra and Mosaic hop varieties formed the exuberant fruit notes, while three types of malt and oat flakes were responsible for the creamy and almost grippy consistency. Together they result in a sparkling beer with a slim body, fruity freshness and pointed bitterness. A dry finish closes the beer enjoyment, but before that everything revolves around the mango. The golden tropical fruit dominates the smell and taste and also prevails in the finale.
