It's no secret that you can drink good beer in the Czech Republic. In Germany's neighboring country, delicious, hearty food is always accompanied by a mug of equally delicious beer. So it's no wonder that Pivovar Podlesí has a whole range of excellent beers in its range.
Hulvát is an unfiltered, unpasteurized single hop ale. As the name suggests, beers of this type are brewed with a single type of hop. In this age of hoppy IPAs, this is definitely worth mentioning. The light beer flows into the glass in a fine, cloudy gold tone and forms an airy, white head of foam. A wonderful mixture of malt and hops rises from the fluffy foam. Soft caramel meets freshly baked bread and herbal hops on the nose. On the palate it has a medium body with a pleasant sweetness that is balanced by a good bitterness. The malt forms a nice base that tastes of soft caramel and freshly baked cookies. The hops contribute a spicy herbal note and a floral fruitiness. Towards the finish, the bitterness comes to the fore and becomes crisp and present.
Hulvát is a down-to-earth beer that goes perfectly with hearty cuisine. A fresh stew with vitamin-rich winter vegetables, fish dishes and crisp salads are the perfect accompaniments to this beer.
