This beer goes back to the legendary, very first pilsner. A real classic!
As the name suggests, Pilsener originated in the Czech city of Pilsen. In 1842 a Bavarian brewed the beer that was later so popular for the first time. Josef Groll was a Bavarian master brewer and is considered the forefather of Pilsen beer. The Pilsner Urquell comes from the brewery in which the first Pils was developed and is brewed according to the original recipe. Nothing has changed in terms of the raw materials either: Pilsen water, which is known for its softness, is still used and the rest of the ingredients come from the region. In order to come as close as possible to the original despite the modernization of the brewing process, each batch is compared with the traditional brew: In addition to the production in the modern system, a master brewer produces a small batch of Pilsener, which is brewed using traditional technology in the hand-made wooden barrels. In this way, the brewery ensures that the taste remains as close as possible to Josef Groll’s original Pils, despite the latest brewing equipment.
The glossy beer flows into the glass in crystal clear gold and has a stately crown of fine-pored foam on the luminous body. A delicate scent of light malt, grassy hops and a hint of buttery plaited yeast tempts you to take the first sip. This reveals a crisp, fresh, clear pilsner with a balanced balance of malt and hops and a nice bitterness.
