When brewers come together and work together, the results can be truly impressive. The men and women behind the kettles like to outdo each other in daring, skimping on neither the hops nor the r.p.m. Orca Brau, Sibeeria, and Freigeist Bierkultur have struck a much softer tone for their latest collaboration: The international trio has come together in the hallowed halls of Sibeeria in Prague to create a range of non-alcoholic beers.
Nulla: Pivo is the first. This modern interpretation of a classic Czech lager brings a mild 0.5% alcohol to the glass, balancing the light alcohol content with a punch of flavor. The LoNa yeast culture from Lallemand is a relatively new strain that allows brewers to create a deep aroma with low sugar fermentation. Nulla: Pivo benefits significantly from this, delivering a full-on, culinary Czech lager at a feather-light 0.5% alcohol.
The collaboration brew presents itself in a slightly hazy honey-gold color in the glass. A fleeting crown of white, airy foam rests atop the coppery shimmering body. An olfactory blend of oven-fresh bread and meadow herbs entices the first sip. The flavor profile is comprised of grains, bread, herbs, a hint of fruit, and a harmonious bitterness. Classic, drinkable, and light-hearted!
