Pimp my ride was yesterday, today we pimp IPAs!
The French brewery La Debauche describes its IPA called Pimp my IPA as a strong, honest, round beer with character and taste. Appropriate, we think. We are not used to anything else from the creative brewery La Debauche.
Pimp my IPA is a wheat beer in the style of an Imperial IPA. This differs from conventional IPA primarily in its significantly higher alcohol content. Pimp my IPA has 11% ABV, making it almost twice as strong as its IPA colleagues. True to form, a whole lot of hops went into the kettle, which you can also taste. Pimp my IPA flows into the glass in a deep, cloudy amber color and forms a beige head. When poured, enticing aromas of ripe hops, caramel toffee, grains and marzipan emerge. It is accompanied by a touch of fruit in the form of lemon and lime peel and dried red berries. With the first sip, Pimp my IPA reveals a strong body with a full-bodied taste and gentle carbonation. On the tongue, sweet aromas of dried fruit meet green hops, which in this case clearly show their relationship to hemp. Sweet and bitter flavor components are cleverly balanced and together result in a more than satisfying Imperial IPA.
Pimp my IPA is a stately IIPA with interesting layers of flavor and a wonderful hop bitterness. Succeeded!
