Bruno and Nuno are a dream team and not just because their names rhyme.
The two passionate beer fans from Portugal have set out to democratize craft beer in Portugal and are fighting mass production and industrial beer with creative, handcrafted brewing products. Red Zeppelin is a prime example of their skills and is also enjoyed by beer sommelier Marco Liebig. He tested the Red Session Ale for you.
A session ale is a wonderfully drinkable, slightly lighter companion to traditional IPAs. In general, IPAs are characterized by their high hop content. They contain the full power of hops, which brings with them a veritable cornucopia of different, complex aromas. At the same time, the IPAs boast a good alcohol content and are considered to be among the more sophisticated beers. The Session IPA is therefore the perfect beer for craft newbies and beginners - pleasantly hoppy, not overly strong and very drinkable.
The Red Zeppelin is no exception. The hazelnut-brown beer invites you to drink it with an interesting spectrum of smells. Roasted coffee notes combine with the wonderful citrus aroma of grapefruit and lemon, and a touch of pineapple conjures up a nice sweetness. Red Zeppelin does everything it promises and impresses in the dry taste with a nice bitterness, which is underlined by the fresh citrus taste and coffee. Grapefruit and lemon stay with us right through to the finish, but towards the end they meet the full-bodied sweetness of roasted malts.
The Red Zeppelin is a perfect session IPA that, despite its slim body and moderate alcohol content of 5.0 vol., impresses with stunning fruit notes and an impulsive variety of flavors. For Marco, it is the ideal beer for grilling thanks to its wonderful drinkability: juicy and spicy ribs, pepperoni, fresh chorizo, brisket (hot smoked beef brisket).
