In their quest for the ultimate flavor, today’s brewers spare no expense. They are constantly searching for new raw materials, experimenting with brewing techniques and innovative methods, exchanging ideas with colleagues around the world, and hunting down the rarest and most aromatic hop varieties. They no longer work exclusively with fresh, dried, or pelleted hops. Resourceful hop suppliers have developed products that extract maximum aroma from this green gold. One such product is Nelson Sauvin Amplifire™ oil, launched by the New Zealand hop giant Clayton Hops.
This water-soluble oil is extracted from the fresh hop cone on the day of harvest and delivers the incomparable flavor of freshly picked blossoms. The liquid can be used for dry hopping and imparts notes of white fruits, green gooseberries, and crisp white wine to beer.
For example, there’s the Hopzz_Incline beer from Pinta. As part of their Hopzz line of heavily hopped beers, the Polish brewery has created a special brew around this brand-new product. The beer pours a rich, cloudy, old gold color and forms a dense, ivory-colored head. Aroma and flavor are dominated by white grapes, tart gooseberries, and a hint of elegant white wine. Excellent!
