The first version of this beer appeared in 2016 and was brewed on the occasion of Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend. The response was varied, to say the least: some couldn’t get enough of this dark, powerful beauty with a syrupy consistency, others took a sip and swore off the creation forever. The massive sweetness just wasn’t to everyone’s taste. Because the beer was brewed for the fair, there was a relatively small edition that was soon sold out. After a while, however, everyone was talking about beer again. Literally, because some die-hard fans of the brewery had packed the noble drop into their cellar for storage and were surprised with a completely different beer. During the second maturation, the broad sweetness had developed into a balanced, complex and deep flavor profile.
The brewery is now picking up exactly this version of its beer seven years later: Saatana Magustoit, which translates to "the devil’s dessert", is entering the second round and this time the brewers took a little more time in the development. Edition number 2 is a lot rounder, easier to drink and more pleasant than the first brew was initially.
In order to be able to experience the full range of aromas, the brewery recommends starting at a drinking temperature of around 8 degrees Celsius and then letting the beer slowly warm up.
