This beer has brought the country of Norway some fame and honor on the global beer market: Hardly any other Norwegian beer has won as many prizes in international competitions as Nøgne Øs Porter. The dark beauty with a silky-soft mouthfeel inspires with full-bodied chocolate and coffee notes and, thanks to its roasted malty aroma, has already converted one or the other die-hard Pilsner drinker to porter fan.
The porter is one of the brewery’s figureheads and, with its rich cornucopia of strong flavors, harmonizes wonderfully with hearty dishes such as a delicate lamb stew with buttery Borlotti beans, bacon and fresh rosemary with homemade napkin dumplings and lingonberry jus. However, the dark beer is also suitable as an atmospheric aperitif before a chic meal or as the crowning conclusion to such a meal and goes very well with dark chocolate and mature cheeses.
Nøgne Øs Porter flows into the glass in the color of black coffee and also smells like this: the scent of freshly brewed mocha rises from the fleeting veil of hazelnut-brown foam and merges there with the aromas of roasted malt and strong cocoa. The initial taste follows this fine first impression and caresses the palate with creamy notes of gently melting chocolate, espresso, caramel and candied red fruits. A poem!
