From the Canadian Northwest to South American influences in sunny Florida, Mexican flair in California and the international atmosphere in New York: The United States of America is so extensive that it combines a cornucopia of different cultures, landscapes and cuisines. Of course, there is not always harmony and unity in this cosmos. Civil wars terrify people, dark chapters cast their shadows on the history of the country and differences of opinion on politics, ethics and education divide the population. Hardly any other country is home to so many different, sometimes contradicting points of view as the USA.
This plurality affects not only history, politics and such important topics, but also popular culture: the west and east coasts have always fought a bitter rivalry, which is reflected in areas such as sport and music. Another point of contention arose in the 90s when craft beer slowly spread and more and more small, creative breweries sprang up. Craft beer offered a new stage for the quarrels between the east and west coast and the dispute resulted in the creation of two grandiose India Pale Ales.
A representative of the classic West Coast IPA is West Coast Tropics from Seven Island Brewery. The crunchy beer was created in collaboration with the Lervig brewery and is brewed with the aromatic hops Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Simcoe and Chinook.
