At this point we would like to introduce you to a beer that, strictly speaking, does not fit into this category at all. Its creators describe the brew as a hybrid between beer, wine and cider, but none of the descriptions hit the mark one hundred percent. We think that you don’t necessarily have to put everything in a drawer and simply take Sakiškių alus Blackcurrant Brut Ale for what it is: a wondrous hybrid with a beguiling taste.
The mystical mythical animal was created in collaboration with a bar called Alaus Biblioteka from Vilnius. Brewers and the bar team sat down at a table and designed this creation over a beer together. The elegant brut ale is fermented with an exquisite champagne yeast and, in addition to malt and hops, contains an incredible 50 liters of aronia juice and a whopping 200 kilograms of freshly harvested black currants. The fruit provides a second fermentation, leaving a delightfully dry beer reminiscent of fine wine.
In the glass, the unusual specialty presents itself in a shimmering ruby red. A touch of pink foam crowns the magnificent beer and exudes a sensual scent of wild berries and night black currants. The taste follows quickly: soft malt, cassis, fruity acidity and delicate citrus notes.
