The guys from Flügge want to be one thing above all: wild! They have not only declared war on the German Purity Law, but have also completely shaken up the traditional list of ingredients in beer. Their specialty is yeast. They work with old, long-forgotten farmer's yeasts and so-called wild yeasts. The latter are yeasts that used to end up in the brewing liquor unplanned because they stuck to the other beer ingredients and caused mixed fermentation. Yeasts that open up completely new worlds of flavor in the brewing process and give Flügge's beers a unique variety of flavors. Only a few German breweries dare to use wild yeasts, as they are considered difficult and uncontrollable. Nothing that would stop the guys from Flügge from doing so. Wild, we'll just say!

Frankfurt free spirits with ambition

Dominik Pietsch and Joachim Amrhein, the founders of the Flügge brewery, are anything but uncreative minds in their field. Even in the unconventional craft beer scene, the Frankfurt-based company stands out. After launching in 2017, the two set themselves the goal of turning the German beer industry on its head. The first thing they did was throw the strict purity law overboard so they could be more free when it came to choosing ingredients. The result is exciting, innovative products such as a hybrid of beer and wine - Flügge Sieke & Ole was created in coordination with winemaker Daniel Mattern and is a real speciality in the Flügge range. Flinn , Fil and Anni are also unconventional beers from Flügge. Anyone can do classic - but what these two guys conjure up is extravagant and top-class.

Outlaw

The three founders of the Flügge microbrewery came up with their unusual name during a long car ride. The term flügge is used primarily in the context of young birds that have just left their nest. Wild, free creatures that are not limited by the conventions and norms of the world around them. It fits like a glove and is a concept that is implemented like no other. The name is also a program in the design of the labels: every bottle from Flügge is adorned with a label with a colorful, hand-painted bird. The feathered creatures are the work of artist Pia Zölzer, who lovingly creates lively little mascots for Flügge's unique beers.
