With the Aecht Schlenkerla Kräusen, the Schlenkerla Brewery succeeds in successfully mixing two traditional beer styles. The smoky, light lager is combined with the Märzen smoked beer.
The result is a balanced aroma of the two beer styles that appeals to both smoked beer fans and newcomers to the smoked beer experience.
The Helle Schlenkerla Lager matures in old beer cellars under Bamberg’s Stephansberg. Before serving, it is topped off with classic Märzen smoked beer. The result is an amber-colored, unfiltered and tangy lager beer with a light smoky taste.
The term Krausen describes the foam formation and the foam pattern on the fermenting wort - it looks like frizzy hair. The carbon dioxide produced during fermentation is responsible for the formation of foam. The ruffling is used for storage and maturation and supplies fresh fermented yeast cells that are able to carry out the secondary fermentation to the fermented young beer. Kräusenbier is fermented beer to which a portion of highly fermented young beer is added for subsequent maturation in storage tanks, bottles or kegs.
Copper gold like a sunset in the beer garden. A stable, fine-pored head of foam. Opal haze. And of course the typical Schlenkerla ham smell. This is how Aecht Schlenkerla Kräusen presents itself in a glass.
In the initial taste, you can immediately taste the balanced aromas of both beer stems, both the bitter, slightly sour slenderness of the pale beer and the typical smoky-greasy note of the smoky march are clearly recognizable. The aromas harmonize in combination, with the taste of the refreshing light dominating at the beginning. The mild smoky note rounds and closes the after drunk.
