While in summer we like to drink feather-light sour beers and brews with a fruity variety and a slim body, in winter it can be a little more lavish. Icy cold, gray slush, uncomfortable constant rain and the stress of Advent strain our nerves and we long for peaceful hours on the sofa. With candlelight, one or two cookies and the right (hot) drink, we breathe deeply and gather strength for the upcoming holidays. Mulled wine, grog, cocoa, tea and hot chocolate are fabulous, but nothing warms body and soul as wonderfully as a spicy winter beer.
The Bonn brewery Ale-Mania releases such a winter beer every year and has once again outdone itself in 2023: This year’s creation is brewed with a whole range of strengthening raw materials and cuts an extremely good figure with its opaque rust red and creamy, buttery yellow head Glass. The winter delicacy contains six different types of malt, which not only provide the great color, but also a heavenly roasted aroma, soft caramel notes and the non-slip texture. The hop varieties Perle, Mittel Früh andspalter, all of which come from German growing areas, provide a spicy kick. The rounding factor is the warming 6.2%, which gives the complex, drinkable brew the necessary oomph.
