The Rothenbach Brewery Inn—also known as the Aufsesser Brewery by fans and friends—offers a robust selection of down-to-earth, Franconian beers. The variety includes classics like Lager and Zwickl, but also specialties like the famous Wegseidla, which is available in various versions. As a fine addition to the core selection, the team occasionally creates special seasonal brews.
Among these limited-edition specialties is a delicious Märzen, brewed by the brewery just in time for spring. When the air becomes milder, the first fresh green shoots appear, the birds sing their mating songs, and Easter is just around the corner, it’s time for this beer style: Because Märzen is traditionally served around the month of March, it’s named after it.
The Aufsesser version flows into the glass in deep golden copper and is crowned with a handsome cap of medium-pored, ivory-colored foam. A cloud of gently roasted grain and toffee entices the first sip. The taste elegantly continues the olfactory first impression, enveloping the palate with a full-bodied symphony of roasted malt, delicately melting caramel, and delightful spice. Sweetness and bitterness are skillfully balanced, forming a drinkable whole that makes spring even more beautiful!
