Quider is a new word created by Freigeist Bierkultur. The brewers needed a name for their tangy quince cider and quickly merged the two words.
Freigeists Quider is an aromatic cider that combines the classic apple character with the finest quince. The quince is a pome fruit with a history going back thousands of years. Even the ancient Romans loved the golden fruit, which is still part of the menu of many people today. The hard pulp can be used to make jam, jelly, juice, liqueur or quince bread. A variety of vitamins and nutrients makes the quince a real superfood and the pome fruit is also used in natural medicine. Thanks to its slightly sour, almost citrus-like taste, the quince harmonises wonderfully with the aroma of ripe apples and complements the cider from Freigeist Bierkultur with an appealing note.
The Veräppelt Quider shines in a delicately cloudy, pale lemon yellow in the glass and smells enticingly of ripe, sun-kissed quince and apple pie. The initial taste reveals a dry character with fruity acidity, refreshing citrus notes, hints of apples, pears and white grapes and the elegant sweetness of golden quince. The light-footed drink is perfect for hot days and tastes wonderful with French dishes such as a buttery quiche with mushrooms, parsley and goat cheese or an oven-fresh apple tart with sour cream icing and thyme.
There is also a simple version of kidnapped only with apples .
