As far as we know, the English expression "fig dish" has three different meanings. Fig Dish was the name of a band from Chicago. The rock musicians from Chicago released two albums in the 1990s before they disappeared into obscurity and the individual members looked for new groups. If you translate the words, they mean something like dish with figs. Crostini with braised figs, thyme and goat’s cheese, tarts with the fruit and buttered bread with the finest fig jam immediately spring to mind. There is also a beer that recently came out that bears this name.
Fig Dish is a Gose from Freigeist Bierkultur that has been refined with fig juice. The speciality is sold in champagne bottles and has more in common with the exquisite sparkling wine than you would expect. Freigeist Bierkultur’s copper-colored beauty bubbles like Prosecco or sparkling wine when poured into the glass and tingles wonderfully on the tongue. The sparkling carbon dioxide gives the drink a tangy freshness and is thanks to the Méthode Champenoise: after the brewing process and maturation are complete, the beer is mixed with a mixture of yeast and sugar and bottled. In this way, the brew continues to ferment and creates the luxurious tingle. In terms of taste, the Gose revolves around the fig, which harmonizes wonderfully with the natural acidity of the style.
