While the title of this beer simply evokes an extremely persistent and annoying earworm for some, for others it may bring back fond memories of their last holiday on Mallorca’s notorious party mile between Ca’n Pastilla and S’Arenal. The song behind the name comes from one of the most famous pop singers on the Ballermann scene and is a bit more obscene in the original than the version written by Freigeist Bierkultur and the Schneeeule brewery.
The two breweries have joined forces to create an incomparable brew. Stylistically, the brew is based on Berliner Weisse. After the brewing process was completed, the beer was then filled into wooden barrels and matured in them for an incredible six years. But the agonizingly long wait was not over yet: after the six years had passed, a mixture of yeast and sugar was stirred into the Weisse. This technique is called Méthode Champenoise, originally comes from sparkling wine production and ensures that the drink continues to ferment after bottling. This additional fermentation conjures up a sparkling carbon dioxide in the beer.
At the end of this odyssey there is an old golden drink with a delicate veil of foam and a wine-like character, a pronounced acidity and complex wood notes. Go Home, You Old White is not a beer for beginners and definitely not to everyone’s taste - but maybe you will?
