Bottom-fermented beers are fermented with yeasts that thrive at cooler temperatures and settle at the bottom after fermentation. This process typically results in a particularly clear, harmonious, and finely balanced character. Bottom-fermented brewing has a long tradition in Bavaria and forms the basis of numerous classic styles. A particularly successful example of this brewing method is Gutmann Untergärig, which impresses with its fresh, delicately bitter character and subtle, elegant profile.
This brew was produced in a very small batch and was originally intended primarily for the brewery’s own restaurant. We are therefore all the more pleased that we were able to secure a small supply for our customers and can now offer you this special treat in a strictly limited quantity.
In the glass, Gutmann Untergärig presents itself in a crystal-clear, light gold. The head is rather delicate and quite fleeting. The lively carbonation creates an appealing, effervescent impression. On the nose, the beer is rather subtle: gentle hints of malt, soft grain, and a touch of floral hop aroma. The first sip is mild and feather-light. A fine bitterness and restrained notes of roasted malt, creamy caramel, and biscuit caress the palate. Gutmann Untergärig is a fresh, unobtrusive full-bodied beer with a very drinkable character.
