In honor of Saint Catherine, Kathrein’s Day is celebrated on November 25th every year. The day of St. Catherine used to mark the end of the field and grazing time in the country and for many also meant the end of their employment for the year. The working year was decided in lively festivities and in many places there was and still is the so-called Kathrein-Bockbier, which was served just in time for Katharina-Day.

The Grasser brewery from Huppendorf also brews a Kathrein goat, which is tapped in late autumn. With 7.5% alcohol, the powerful Doppelbock is perfect for cozying up on the first really cold evenings. And even if very few of us can end the working year at the end of November, the Kathrein-Bock tastes good even if you only return to the office until next Monday and not until next year.

The Huppendorfer Doppelbock is presented in a honey-yellow robe in the glass and has a fine, white foam crown on the shiny copper body. A seductive malt scent rises into the nose and combines with a hint of caramel and a flowery hint of hops to form an irresistible mixture. The initial taste reveals an elegant body with a fine malt sweetness and a fresh dash of hops. Malty notes of freshly baked bread, brown rock sugar and roasted grain caress the palate, the hops add aromas of tender citrus fruit, grass clippings and subtle orange.

A perfect harmony of hops and malt!
