The Weißenohe monastery brewery pays homage to the green gold hops with a very special series: the GreenMONKey beers. All three variants are brewed in the same way and belong to the same beer style. The original is Pils, a popular beer in German latitudes and a real classic that should not be missing from any well-stocked range. Both the barley and the hops used come from organic farming and are therefore of excellent quality. Four hops are used for basic hopping, and the beer is also fermented cold and allowed to mature to its full splendor unfiltered over a period of three months. The special thing about the GreenMONKey series and the subtle difference between the three beers is the fourth hop: In the so-called dry hopping process, the base beer is stuffed with three different types of hops.
GreenMONKey Mandarina is, as the name suggests, brewed with the Mandarina aroma hop from Hüll. The hop variety gives the beer a fruity, sweet citrus note and makes it the perfect refreshment on hot summer days.
Mandarina flows into the glass in a slightly cloudy, light amber tone and is crowned by a white foam. Fine aromas of grapefruit, juicy mandarin and orange mix in the nose with malty scents of freshly baked bread and honey. In terms of taste, the Polaris version delights with a gentle, slightly floral fruitiness. Tangerine, apricot and honeydew melon sweetly caress the palate, a hint of malt and some yeast give the beer contrast and structure.
