The good Mönchsambacher from the Zehendner brewery is a true legend in the Bamberg area. Everyone knows and loves the down-to-earth lager with its unmistakable taste and honest, round character. But the Mönchsambacher is no longer only drunk around the cathedral city, its good reputation preceded it and gave it international popularity.
No wonder, because we hardly know any other lager that is as balanced and tasty as this excellent Franconian.
The Mönchsambacher Lager presents itself in a wonderful, naturally cloudy, sunny yellow in the glass and has a stately, snow-white head of foam. A strong scent of freshly baked bread, herbaceous hops and roasted malt tempts you to take the first sip. This reveals a full-bodied beer with a fine, soft texture and a great balance between hops and malt. The latter reaches the palate first and delights the taste buds with a composition of creamy caramel, sweet grain and hearty sourdough bread. The hops join in and contribute a wonderfully juicy palette of the finest notes, which range from freshly mown grass to spicy herbs and a touch of summer meadow. A pointed bitterness adds the icing on the cake to the play of aromas and rounds off the balanced taste experience perfectly. The finish is on point and inspires with clean bitterness and a perfectly matched sweetness.
Absolutely successful.
