Old school with oomph.
The Superfreunde took the classic Altbier as inspiration for their Till Death Old School Ale. This beer style originally comes from the Lower Rhine and is popular in and around Düsseldorf. The traditional Altbier is a top-fermented beer that is typically malty. As a rule, the dark beer tastes nutty, malty and nicely spicy.
The super friends have given the classic Altbier a hop kick: cold-stuffed with the American aroma hop variety Chinook, the malty beer gets a hoppy upgrade.
The new old Altbier flows into the glass in a copper-red chestnut brown and is slightly cloudy. A thick, slightly tinted head of foam sits on top of the beer and is tickled by gentle carbonation. A tempting scent of pine resin, freshly baked cookies and caramel malt rises from the creamy foam. A touch of exotic fruit and a fine nose of citrus complement the scent potpourri. The initial taste reveals a fresh and at the same time spicy body with beautiful roasted aromas and dry hops. The malt opens up with notes of soft caramel, roasted grain and crunchy bread crust, while the hops balance the mixture with tangy citrus notes and floral lightness. A nice yeast note gives the beer additional spice, which extends into the dry finish.
The Till Death Oldschool Ale from Superfreunde is a modernized classic with favorite beer potential!
