The India Pale Ale has continued to develop in recent years. The style has developed from a fringe phenomenon at the beginning of the craft beer movement to an indispensable element of every craft brewery range and is now known to every beer fan. At the beginning of the evolution was the classic IPA, which was derived from the English export classic from the late 18th century. Over time, new subcategories were added. In the United States, where the craft beer wave has its roots, the IPA culture is divided into two camps: the West Coast IPA was brewed on the west coast, and the East Coast IPA was brewed on the opposite bank. For a while there was a bitter battle for the best India Pale Ale, but the winner remains unchosen to this day. But it’s also a matter of taste.
The brewers at Orca Brau do not come from the USA, but from Nuremberg. Their current favorite is the West Coast IPA, which they appreciate for its straightforward character, crisp freshness, hoppy variety and rich bitterness. Together with the team from Craft Beer Corner Cologne, they created a beery monument to their favorite.
Once Upon A Time At The Westcoast is part of a range of different West Coast IPAs and is cold hopped with Chinook, Citra and Columbus hops. It tastes of orange and grapefruit zest, pine resin and freshly picked forest herbs.
