The team at Nuremberg Orca Brau chose a very special ingredient for their latest creation. Like many breweries, they are enthusiastic about the world’s different hop varieties and their multifaceted aromatic worlds and are always on the lookout for yet unknown treasures.
When the Locher family from the hop farm of the same name in Tettnang took part in a wine and cheese tasting some time ago, they came across such a treasure: the event took place in a lush garden where, among other things, hops grew. The experts examined the plants and discovered that some of them were not of the varieties they were familiar with. In conversation with the gardener it turned out that it was Petit Blanc. This French species grew in the Champagne-Ardenne region until it was forgotten and supposedly extinct. With the help of a few cuttings, they managed to bring the variety back to life and re-establish it on the market.
The Orca Brau combines the fruity melon notes and the floral lilac note of this special hop with the fiery spice of the Piment d’Espelette chili variety to create an aromatic work of art with French charm called La Fenêtre. The French Spiced Lager caresses the palate with a silky-smooth symphony of full-bodied malt, elegant hops and a touch of chili.
