The two Nuremberg breweries Nürnbier and Eppelein & Friends have a long-standing friendship that, fortunately for everyone, goes far beyond drinking beer together. The Franconians have already brewed several brews together and have been working on a new brew in recent months: The result of their efforts is HAZY BEaST, a powerful New England IPA in every respect. Powerful because it conjures up a lot of everything in the glass. The beer has an impressive 7.5% alcohol content, is brewed with an incredible six types of hops, contains malt from barley, wheat, oats, spelt and emmer and balances the intense fruitiness with a crisp 40 bitter units. Sometimes less is more, in this case more is definitely more.
The HAZY BEaST lives up to its name visually. It flows into the glass in a warm copper brown and is so densely clouded that its makers call it "opaque". A fluffy crown of white foam sits on the opaque body and smells like a whole basket of tropical fruits. The taste test continues this first impression and explodes on the tongue with exuberant notes of various tropical fruits. While the alcohol is wonderfully integrated into the aroma, the taut bitterness offers a good contrast to the juicy fruit. The consistency is wonderfully creamy.
