In common parlance, Bauhaus refers to an architectural movement that developed in Germany in the 1920s. However, Bauhaus is actually the name of an art school founded by Walter Gropius and his fellow artists. The architect strove for a symbiosis of art and craft, following the mass production of the Industrial Revolution, which had largely displaced traditional craftsmanship. The aim was to counteract the serial reproduction of art and initiate a renaissance of traditional creativity. The distinction between art and craft was to be dissolved, and the house was to be viewed as a total work of art. Function was paramount. To this day, we are fascinated by the unity of aesthetics and practicality, the clear structure, and the unique formal language shaped by the artists of this movement.
The team at Blech.Brut is also enthusiastic about clarity, structure, and craftsmanship. The Franconian brewery is known for its geometric designs and socially critical concepts. In their latest series, they are dedicated to the Bauhaus: Spektrum is part of the series and fits perfectly into the ideology, both visually and conceptually.
This light-bodied stout pours from its can, which is the color of freshly brewed coffee and inspired by Bauhaus exhibition posters. Its aroma and flavor are characterized by robust roasted malt as well as special ingredients like coconut, hazelnut, and vanilla bean. Velvety smooth, understatedly elegant, and beautifully structured.
