It is not easy to be the front runner in the richly awarded range of the Altenburger brewery, but the Premium Pils is one of the most award-winning beers on offer. The slightly bitter Pilsner has already charmed a number of jurors with its classic character.

The Premium Pils goes back to a recipe from 1871 and is traditionally brewed with hops from the Elbe-Saale region. The regional hops give the beer its wonderful tartness and characteristic bitterness. The fine beer comes in the stylish flip-top bottle and flows into the glass in a shiny, crystal-clear gold tone. A stately crown of snow-white foam sits enthroned on the pale golden body, perfecting the look and at the same time exuding an enticing scent. A beautiful hop flower rises in the nose and mixes there with the scent of freshly mown summer flower meadow and a touch of freshly baked bread to create an irresistible mixture.

The initial taste reveals a light-footed body with gentle carbonic acid and a palatable 4.9% alcohol content. Soft notes of grain and light malt caress the palate and are reminiscent of freshly baked bread. A touch of yeast gives the beer a fine flavor, while the hops tastes of flowers, herbs, grass and tart green fruit. The crunchy bitterness runs like a red thread through the drinking pleasure and leads to a bitter, dry finish.

The Altenburger Premium Pils is an honest beer with a wonderful bitterness and clear taste notes.
