Tropical storms can be terrifying and violent. Palm trees bend almost to the ground, hurricane-force winds whip across the boiling sea, coconuts rain down from great heights and the air is so thick you could cut it. But tropical storms can also be delicious - at least when they take place inside a can.
Storm-tested, the craft beer experts at BrewDog use their extensive experience with spirited hops and powerful malts to bring us an excellent Double IPA. Part of the Wingman series, the creation is the culinary equivalent of a tropical storm.
BrewDog's Wingman Tropical Storm blows into the glass with a wind force of 7.2 and is as cloudy as a stormy April day. The densely cloudy beer in old gold is adorned with a creamy crown of fine-pored foam and smells fantastic of tropical fruity hops, oat biscuits and passion fruit, thanks to the addition of natural passion fruit and mango aromas. Three types of grain provide the creamy body and stable structure. Five hops contrast with the soft malt and create a full-bodied spectacle on the tongue: the tidal wave of juicy passion fruit and mango notes is accompanied by grassy notes, a mild bitterness and a whole basket of tropical fruit. The alcohol is so expertly integrated into the taste that you only notice it when it lifts you into the air like a tornado.
