In the Christmas stories of the English-speaking world, Santa Claus and Rudolph the reindeer are an unbeatable team. Together they brave snowstorms, bricked-up chimneys and other disasters and, year after year, reliably and punctually deliver mountains of presents to excited children all over the world. Because as an adult you have to work behind the scenes to make the Christmas miracle happen and are therefore probably not quite as enthusiastic about the dynamic duo, the Dutch brewery De Molen has come up with a version for the adults among us: their interpretation of Santa & Rudolph is a beer-based one, which, with an impressive 7.3% alcohol content and a spicy character, creates a festive atmosphere even if you still don't have all your presents on the morning of December 24th.
Santa & Rudolph is a Christmas Ale that has been given a Christmassy touch with juniper berries and liquorice. The Christmassy brew flows into the glass in a picturesque ruby red and is adorned with a slightly tinted veil of fine foam. Dark fruits, strongly roasted malt, creamy caramel and the wintery spice of juniper and liquorice permeate the aroma and taste. The soft, full-bodied sweetness is balanced by a harmonious bitterness.
So delicious that Santa & Rudolph will certainly have to come out more than once this year!
