The special feature of De Molens Calvados Edition 2024 Quadrupel can be seen at first glance: the bottle is provided with a carmine red wax seal that encloses the crown cap and two thirds of the bottle neck. Behind the elegant decoration is a powerful Quadrupel that has been matured in Calvados barrels. Calvados is a fruit brandy made from pears and apples and has a wonderfully warm, fruity and spicy taste. This aroma migrates into the beer during the maturation process and complements the brew's own aromas excellently. In the case of De Molens Quadrupel, the crisp apple notes and the earthy spiciness of the barrel combine with a symphony of red berries and roasted malt.
The Calvados 2024 Edition Quadrupel comes in an opaque black-brown with a ruby-red shimmer and completes its magnificent appearance with a crown of creamy, hazelnut-brown foam. The unmistakable scent of freshly baked apple pie wafts around the nose and makes you excited for the first sip. The first sip is wonderfully creamy and enchants the palate with an autumnal symphony of fiery Calvados, ripe apples, tenderly melting caramel, dried fruit, vanilla and wood. The impressive 12.0% alcohol content and a fine roasted bitterness round off the beer poem in an atmospheric way.
Barrel aging is a time-consuming and complex process, but it was more than worth it for this creation!
