Inspired by the spirit of discovery of the inventor of the submarine, the brewers at the Dutch brewery Lowlander also wanted to dare to do something impossible. In the world of beer there is little that is not possible, but one thing actually seems impossible to many brewers: a completely alcohol-free beer.

Non-alcoholic beers are a controversial matter. People who don't want to or aren't allowed to drink alcohol are happy that such beers even exist. Others claim that a non-alcoholic beer is not a real beer at all. Decades of tasteless, bland, alcohol-free beers reinforce this theory. The Lowlander brewers, however, are now ready to refute them powerfully. They have created a beer that is not only 0.00% alcohol but also has a whole lot of flavor.

But the highlight of the whole thing is the ingredients: The orange and lemon peels used were not peeled from fresh, specially purchased fruit, but were collected from pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels. All you need there is the fruit, not the peel, and so several tons of fruit peel are thrown away every year even though it could actually still be used. PeelPioneers is the name of the organization that is dedicated to saving fruit peels and now also supplies Lowlander with them.

The recycled orange and lemon peels are used to brew a delicious, alcohol-free beer that is good for the conscience in every way.
