Sunsets are sometimes a real spectacle. When a glowing red fireball slowly sinks behind the horizon in front of a baroque painting in purple tones, we simply cannot look away. Depending on the setting, the spectacle is even more dramatic: when the sun sets over the sea, in the mountains or in the desert, for example. And nothing is more beautiful after a long, exhausting day than watching a colorful sunset while enjoying a cold beer.
That’s probably exactly what the brewers at Espiga did when they came up with the idea for this beer. Their creation is called Slow Sundown and was created in collaboration with the Letra brewery from Portugal. The Spanish-Portuguese collaboration has produced a double cold-hopped India Pale Ale. The cold hopping was carried out with the hops Citra, Idaho 7 and Ekuanot and results in an intense flavor profile with tropical fruit aromas and resinous notes. In addition to the dominant green gold, a trio of different grains are in the brew, giving it a silky smooth, firm texture.
Slow Sundown sweetens your sunset with a cocktail of mango, papaya, lime and other citrus fruits. A gentle breeze of pine resin and more than a breeze of hoppy bitterness give the beer the finishing touch.
