The Espiga brewery is celebrating its tenth anniversary and is doing so with a celebratory beer. Their version of an anniversary brew is a new edition of one of their most popular classics: For the birthday, the brewers have come up with a triple version of Hyperactive, an extremely popular Triple Dry Hopped IPA. Although the original is already pretty massive, the brewery has gone one step further and surpassed itself: Their Triple Hyperactive Moon brings a quick-witted 10.0% alcohol content, a crisp 45 bitter units, a fierce trio of hops, three types of malt and two types of flakes into the glass.
The (hopped) creation is presented in a peach-golden robe and is adorned with a small crown of white foam. An olfactory bouquet of white melon, sun-kissed mango and citrus zest tickles the olfactory nerves and triggers an acute thirst for beer. The first sip follows this excellent first impression and opens the drinking pleasure with an explosion of juicy fruit notes. Little by little, hints of papaya, mango, pineapple, lemongrass and apricot unfold on the tongue. A hint of yeast provides a nice spiciness, while the hops, in addition to the fireworks of fruit, also provide floral undertones and a bitterness that perfectly captures the fruity sweetness. The 10.0% alcohol content is dangerously well integrated into the taste profile and only becomes noticeable when you are caught up in a boisterous mood.
A truly perfect birthday beer!
