A well-known Scottish poet longingly and poetically describes the wild landscape of the Scottish Highlands with its green expanses and rich flora and fauna in his poems. Lehe's My Heart is in the Highlands is an ode to Scotland and at least as poetic as lyrical words!
My Heart is in the Highlands is a single malt ale that was matured in sherry casks. The model for the beer is Scottish whiskey, which tastes strongly of peat. To achieve this distinctive taste, malt kilned over peat was used for the beer. Barrel aging is also crucial.
The result is impressive: a bright copper tone with a fleeting foam, the wonderful aroma of dried apples paired with caramel and dates tickles your nose. The fruity-sweet aftertaste prepares the taste buds for the brilliant middle part: the malt smoked in peat combines deliciously with the woody notes of the sherry casks. The alcohol content ensures a warm, full mouthfeel and leaves the impression of an exquisite liqueur. The taste of smoky whiskey lingers into the finish and leaves a lingering note of malty peat on the tongue.
My Heart is in the Highlands is a real firework of dark, smoky flavors and definitely not a beginner's beer!
