The whiskey white from Hösl in Mitterteich is proof of a very special friendship. The town of Mitterteich has had a partnership with the English town of Cheddleton Wetley-Rocks in Staffordshire for 20 years now. During a meeting to plan the anniversary, the idea of brewing a beer to celebrate this friendship came about. Master brewer Michael Hösl liked his idea and used the opportunity to combine two of his passions: beer and whiskey. In order to convey the delicate taste of his favorite spirit into the beer, the creative brewer used special whiskey malt. This type of malt conjures up a characterful peat note in the beer and its smoky aroma is reminiscent of luxurious whiskey.
The whiskey whiteness flows into the glass in a dark gold tone and is slightly cloudy. A delicately colored foam crowns the beer and already reveals the intention of this beer. Spicy peat, vanilla and fine smoke are reminiscent of the full-bodied aroma of a good whiskey. The characteristic wheat beer aromas complement the whiskey scent perfectly: yeast, clove and creamy banana elegantly complement the play of aromas. The initial taste reveals a medium-weight body with lively carbon dioxide. In terms of taste, the whiskey-beer combination impresses with the best of both worlds: dark roasted wheat meets creamy caramel, ripe banana, bitter herbs and earthy peat. A fine malt note permeates the aromatics, but is more subtle and elegant than a classic smoked beer.
The Whiskey-Weisse is a delicately composed beer that lives up to its name.
