Building on the success of their first collaboration Imperial IPA, the successful brewers from Weiherer and Fat Head’s Brewery are launching their second blockbuster in December 2017. The Hopferla is the second IPA from Collaboration Brews and another highlight in the brewers’ range.
In contrast to what the Franconian-inspired name Hopferla might suggest, the beer is brewed in the style of a West Coast IPA and features seven different types of hops. The hop bomb with an impressive 7.5% vol. comes in amber color and delights with a stable, fine head of foam. The hops do their job and give the beer a veritable cornucopia of fruity aromas. Tropical fruits mix with tangy citrus notes, and tart grapefruit complements the offering. To counteract the fruit exuberance, the hop bitterness comes into direct action, perfectly balancing sweetness and tartness. A pleasant carbonic acid content supports the taste and the 7.5% alcohol gives the West Coast IPA that certain something extra.
We think that the second collaboration between the Kundmüller brewery and the Americans at Fat Head’s Brewery definitely continues the success story of the Imperial IPA. We’re also excited to see what ideas and creations the three friends come up with next! Another IPA, a new Rauchbock or something completely different? We are already fans!
