As part of and together with BrauBeviale, a huge drinks trade fair, the Maisel & Friends brewery organizes a competition for hobby brewers every year. The Nuremberg brewery calls on enthusiastic amateurs to submit their ideas on a set topic and gives the lucky winner the chance to test his or her beer on a large brewing system. In 2024, the motto was "Wheat IPA" and there were almost 150 submissions, among which there were numerous creative, imaginative and delicious designs. Pascal Wolke was chosen as the winner: the home brewer set up the Cloudworks label and supplies friends and family with delicious, handmade beers.
At the end of September, he was able to demonstrate his skills in the hallowed halls of the Maisel & Friends brewery: together with the local team of master brewers, he brewed his recipe on a large scale. The brew is called WHEEEPA (a play on the words of the two styles wheatbeer and India Pale Ale) and is a skilful symbiosis of traditional wheat and modern IPA.
WHEEEPA! Is a silky-smooth specialty with a creamy texture and a full-bodied flavor profile composed of explosive pineapple, banana, peach, citrus, melon and mango notes. The typical fruitiness and juicy sweetness of the wheat beer are wonderfully accentuated by the indispensable crisp bitterness of the IPA. A beer you can’t get enough of!
