The organic brewery Riedenburger has a wide range of artisanal beers that consist exclusively of ingredients that have been grown organically. For their original wheat, the environmentally and health-conscious brewers have also opted for an old type of grain: Emmer is one of the first types of grain that was ever cultivated and comes from the wheat family. The cereal, also known as two grains, has a particularly high content of protein and minerals and a fine taste. It is used in malted form for brewing.
The original wheat flows into the glass in a copper-red amber tone and has a stately crown of creamy foam on the naturally cloudy body. The top-fermented beer specialty smells of ripe banana and spicy cloves. The classic wheat beer bouquet is accompanied by notes of roasted hazelnuts and the scent of oven-fresh yeast plait. After this grandiose prelude, the wheat tastes all the better: The lively carbonic acid makes the aromas of sun-ripened grain, spicy yeast and soft banana dance on your tongue. A fresh lemon twist gives the beer a playful lightness, while notes of clove, caramel, roasted nuts and candied fruits give the rounded taste character and structure. A fine bitterness underlines the play of aromas and ends the beer enjoyment together with a fruity sweetness.
