There are many good brewers out there, but there are a few that push the envelope and then a little further. The team at the S. Riegele brewery is one of these exceptional brewers. In order to take the taste of their beers to the extreme, the resourceful men and women of the brewery have further developed the two-mash process and expanded it into the Riegele two-mash process. This process refines the beer and elicits the fruitiest flavor nuances from the malts used.
A prime example of the beers brewed using the Riegele two-mash process is Augustus 8: The beer named after Emperor Augustus is nicknamed "Fruity Flavor Play" and more than lives up to this title.
The strong strong beer flows into the glass in shimmering coppery amber. A scent of oven-fresh banana cake with creamy caramel sauce fills the air and seduces you to take the first sip. This hits the tongue with velvety softness and caresses the taste buds with heavy sweetness and a luxurious abundance of flavors. The malt delivers a range of fruit notes, which, in addition to fruity sweetness and summery freshness, also bring an elegant acidity. Complementing undertones are caramel and honey notes. The crisp 8.0% alcohol content rounds off the play of aromas with a warmth that spreads through body and soul.
