We love beers in brilliant gold, which are crystal clear and with a snow-white head in the glass. However, we almost prefer cloudy beers and those with a ruby red shimmer. This engraving is due to the use of special malts and inspired the Wagner brewery from Merkendorf to create a fine beer.
Their wonderful red beer is aptly named Kupferstich and is made with a fine selection of fine malts. The roasted grain gives the beer its rich red gold, ivory head and full-bodied aroma. A composition of roasted grain, toffee, red dried fruit and toasted bread brings the fullness of malt to the nose, the hops contribute grassy hints and gentle herbal notes. The initial sip continues the olfactory first impression in a culinary way: delicately melting caramel meets pithy notes, spicy yeast, straw, roasted nuts, notes of fruit and a nice roasted bitterness. Despite the high malt density, the red beer impresses with its freshness and liveliness. Sweetness, bitterness and spiciness keep the perfect balance and make Wagner’s engraving a real treat.
Thanks to its malty variety, the beer goes wonderfully with hearty dishes and heavy desserts. We love the red beer to round off a nice dinner with a piece of chocolate cake or simply on its own as a dessert.
