The Weißenohe monastery brewery pays homage to the green gold hops with a very special series: the GreenMONKey beers. All three variants are brewed in the same way and belong to the same beer style. The original is Pils, a popular beer in German latitudes and a real classic that should not be missing from any well-stocked range. Both the barley and the hops used come from organic farming and are therefore of excellent quality. Four hops are used for basic hopping, and the beer is also fermented cold and allowed to mature unfiltered to its full splendor over a period of three months. The special thing about the GreenMONKey series and the subtle difference between the three beers is the fourth hop: In the so-called dry hopping process, the base beer is stuffed with three different types of hops.
GreenMONKey Hersbrucker is stuffed with Hersbrucker mountain hops. These hops are grown in the hop-growing areas around the Weißenoher Klosterbrauerei and are affectionately called “home hops” by the brewers.
The light beer flows into the glass in a magnificent golden yellow and forms a stable, white head of foam. A fine herbal scent rises to the nose and mixes with subtle malt notes and a subtle fruitiness. In terms of taste, the Hersbrucker variant impresses with a wonderful hop bitterness, which is balanced by beautiful malt notes and a pleasant sweetness. Herbal, malty, tasty!
