Wolfram von Eschenbach is a mysterious figure in German literature. The minstrel and poet is believed to have lived sometime in the late 12th century. It is assumed that he lived somewhere in Franconia and served at the court of various counts. In fact, nobody knows anything about him, but he is still considered one of the most important authors of his time and his works are still valued today. And this despite the fact that one is not even a hundred percent sure that Wolfram could read and write because the poet described himself as illiterate.
The Weißenohe monastery brewery brewed a beer in honor of this illustrious figure. Their Minnesinger is a Pilsner that combines the characters of Pilsner and Hellem into a harmonious whole. All the raw materials in the brew come from controlled organic farming, which has committed itself to the strict rules of BIOLAND and cultivates under sustainable aspects.
The varieties Smaragd, Ariana and Splitter Select, which come from the sunny fields of the Hallertau, ensure the full-bodied hop aroma. Exquisite Pilsner malt gives the lean beer its velvety mouthfeel and contrasts the sparkling and bitter hop components with a soft sweetness. Wolfram von Eschenbach would certainly have tasted this well-balanced Pilsner and might even have inspired him to write one of his enchanting poems!
