Wood is a natural building material that gives the home a cozy warmth and also offers a number of other aesthetic and practical advantages. Much of our furniture is made of wood because the natural material is durable and stable, comes in many different shades of color, is easy to work with and can be customized. It can be used to make all kinds of different furnishings such as chairs, cabinets, dressers, kitchen units and tables. We are fans of the untreated wooden table, even if this sometimes presents us with challenges because water and other liquids leave unsightly marks on the surface. So if we want to enjoy an ice-cold beer without worrying about the table, we have to resort to a coaster. Fortunately, most breweries not only supply us with the finest beer, but also the matching beer mats.
In Franconia, the round cardboard discs are affectionately called Bierfilzla and can be found on every table. Stone Brewing’s version does not come from Franconia: The brewery has its origins in California, but has also been brewing in Berlin for some time.
