Stone Brewing has produced a whole series of legendary beers. Some of these brews have been part of the core range for more than 20 years, others have been replaced over time but never forgotten. One of the latter is the Imperial Stout, which brewmaster Steve developed in 2000. For a while, the classic sold like hotcakes, but was then pushed out of the range in favor of hopped IPAs. Over the years, the return of the cult beer has been called for again and again and now the time has come: Stone is bringing the legend back.
With the same basic recipe, the Californian brewery has been brewing its Imperial Stout again since November 2024, delighting loyal customers who have been following the craft beer pioneers for decades.
The crowd favorite flows into the glass in pure mahogany and shimmers like a cut ruby when the light hits it. A crown of thick foam in browned ivory sits on top of the opaque beer and smells of fine cocoa, roasted malt, toffee and mocha with brown sugar. The first sip enchants the palate with a wonderfully soft, creamy texture and a grippy body. The taste is made up of dark chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, exotic vanilla, candied red fruits and toasted bread. Stones Imperial Stout is creamy, sweet, crisply bitter and extremely lively with an impressive 10.5% alcohol content.
